Gleeks Rejoice! Glee, Canada’s No.1 New Show, Returns to Global

Glee, Canada’s #1 New Show returns to Global on Tuesday, April 13th – 9:25pm ET/PT with an all-new episode featuring an amazing line-up of songs and special guest stars. All subsequent episodes will air in its regular timeslot Tuesdays – 9pm ET/PT.

Coming off a knockout fall season, Global’s Top 10 hit series has captured the attention of the world. From First Lady Michelle Obama’s request for a Glee performance at the White House Easter Egg Roll to the ‘Queen of Daytime’, Oprah Winfrey, dedicating one of her upcoming shows to the talented ensemble – the buzz is building for the year’s most anticipated series return. To top it all off, the Glee cast is taking the show on the road this spring for a seven-date U.S. concert tour kicking off in May.

“Clearly the excitement surrounding the phenomenon that is Glee has only continued to grow during the show’s winter hiatus,” said Barb Williams, EVP, Content, Canwest Broadcasting. “We are on pins and needles, along with the rest of Canada, for the series’ much-anticipated return to Global and we’re confident it will be worth the wait.”

Award-winners at the 2010 People’s Choice, Golden Globes® and SAG Awards®, Glee has established itself as one of the brightest shows on television and Hollywood heavyweights are taking notice. Upcoming episodes of the show will feature cameos by an array of celebrities, including singer-actress Jennifer Lopez, global sensation Lady Gaga, music legend Olivia Newton-John, Tony Award®-winner Idina Menzel, actor Neil Patrick Harris and actor-comedian Molly Shannon. Plus, the one and only, Madonna has permitted seven of her biggest hits including “Express Yourself”, “Vogue” and “Like A Prayer” to be given a Glee makeover for a tribute episode airing the second week back.

For all things Glee, Gleeks can log onto GlobalTV.com and check out the official Glee Club blog featuring the latest scoop on the show, guest stars and what’s new with the cast. In addition, fans can catch up on full episodes the day after broadcast, read the weekly episodic playlist and take the ‘Gleek Quiz’ to find out which character they’re most like.

From creator Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck), Glee is an award-winning musical comedy that depicts Will Schuester’s (Matthew Morrison) efforts to save McKinley High’s Glee Club from cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). Chalk full of musical numbers, underdog characters and biting comedy, Glee is a runaway pop-culture hit.

“HELL-O”: New Directions is fresh off their monumental win at Sectionals and feeling on top of the world. With an extra spring in their step, they get to work on new numbers for Regionals – including a memorable rendition of The Beatles’ “Hello, Goodbye.” But when Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn’s (Cory Monteith) budding romance hits a bump in the road after she becomes involved with a competitor, Jesse St. James (guest star Jonathan Groff), it threatens to derail the entire club. Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) pays a visit to Shelby Corcoran (guest star Idina Menzel), coach of Vocal Adrenaline, to confirm Jesse’s motives. Meanwhile, Will is newly single, but is he ready to take his relationship with Emma (Jayma Mays) to the next level? And to top it all off, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) returns from her condo in Boca with a renewed focus on destroying Will and disbanding the glee club.
