Global Winnipeg and 680 CJOB Manitoba to Bring Live Comprehensive Coverage of the Winnipeg Municipal Election

With Winnipeg residents headed to the polls this week, Global Winnipeg and 680 CJOB Manitoba are combining newsrooms to deliver live, unparalleled election coverage with Decision 2014: Winnipeg Votes. Airing Wednesday October 22 from 8-11pm CDT, the two stations will make the live show available on-air and online. CJOB’s on-air coverage as well as real-time online coverage will kick off at 8pm CDT while Global Winnipeg will begin airing the election special online at 8pm CDT and on-air at 9pm CDT. Global’s Peter Chura and Lauren McNabb will anchor the collaborative coverage and be joined by CJOB’s Richard Cloutier who will provide additional context and analysis of the municipal election.

Live from the Global Winnipeg studios, Decision 2014: Winnipeg Votes will be produced from six locations around the city and will feature a panel moderated by CJOB host, Charles Adler. Former Winnipeg city councilors Dan Vandal and Scott Fielding will join the panel to provide their informed insight into the election and discuss the implications for Winnipeggers.

This collaboration with Global will facilitate a multi-platform viewing and listening experience,” said Scott Pettigrew, Brand Director, 680 CJOB. “Our team of seasoned journalists will provide in-depth, up-to-the-minute analysis of the election and the issues that matter most to the community.”

Host Geoff Currier will continue CJOB’s coverage on The Nighthawk at 10pm CDT and News Hour Final anchor, Megan Batchelor, will air real-time polling results and updates at 10pm CDT on Global.

“This election is a fantastic opportunity to join forces with CJOB to deliver municipal news that matters to the community,” said Brent Williamson, News Director & Station Manager, Global Winnipeg. “The combined expertise of our anchors and panel will offer a well-rounded perspective to inform Winnipeg about relevant election information in real time.”
