Global’s Hot Summer Nights – Network Claims Four of the Top 5 in Canada

Global’s explosive summer schedule continues to captivate Canadians with four of the Top 5 shows in the country. Once again proving it is the destination for summertime viewing, the network also claims six out of the Top 10 and 10 out of the Top 20 programs in Canada. Dominating the rankings in the key Adults 18-49 demographic, the network has a stronghold on the ratings each week.

Bolstered by the success of Canada’s #1 New Drama Rookie Blue, scandalous reality fave Big Brother and smash hit Wipeout, Global’s steamy summer slate is outperforming its competitors nationally and across all major markets.

“It’s a great testament to our lineup and our loyal viewers to have maintained such strength in audience engagement this summer,” said Barbara Williams, Executive Vice-President, Content, Canwest Broadcasting. “The numbers clearly indicate Canadians are choosing to tune in to Global night after night, week after week.”

In the major markets, Global also claims more than half of the Top 10 spots in Calgary (seven) and Vancouver (six). In particular, homegrown drama Rookie Blue tops the rankings as the #1 program in Vancouver. Hot on the heels of its early renewal, the series continues its smoking hot performance, and is one of the country’s Top 5 programs.

In addition to the unprecedented success of this hit original series, a range of programs across the schedule, including new episodes of the critically-acclaimed Lie to Me and encore presentations of The Simpsons and Family Guy, have entertained Canadians this summer.
