Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune move to CHCH this fall

This morning at Real Sports Bar & Grill, Channel Zero rolled out the CHCH Television Fall 2012 line-up at a private invitation-only Upfront presentation.

“Three years after Channel Zero’s acquisition of CHCH, we can confidently say that CHCH is back, and once again, in all markets across Ontario, there’s a real alternative to the big 3 networks. We’re seeing steady growth in audiences, and each year we’ve added strong simulcast programming to our schedule. We’re giving viewers something to tune in for every night. CHCH is definitely on a roll!” stated Chris Fuoco, VP Sales & Marketing for Channel Zero.

Starting September 3rd, two of television’s longest running and most popular game shows make CHCH their new home. Monday through Saturday at 7pm, viewers can play along with Pat Sajak, Vanna White and the contestants, as they spin for big money on Wheel of Fortune. The fun continues at 7:30pm when Alex Trebek challenges and entertains on everyone’s favourite quiz show – Jeopardy!

CHCH boasts a line-up of acclaimed news magazines programs. 20/20 brings viewers hard-hitting investigative reports, newsmaker interviews and compelling human interest stories. 48 Hours Mystery is television’s most popular true-crime series, investigating shocking cases and compelling real-life dramas. As the most successful television news magazine in history, 60 Minutes offers unparalleled investigative reports, interviews, and profiles of people in the news. A nightly discussion of current newsworthy eventstakes place weeknights on Nightline, serving up a mix of investigative journalism and extended interviews

“The additions of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and What Would You Do? bring our simulcast programming to 14.5 hours a week. This strength in our schedule, created by our simulcasts and the great line-up of blockbuster movies, serve as a solid platform for national advertisers. In fact, over the past year we’ve seen a 20% increase in Adults 25-54(1) and we’re up 40% for Women 25-54(2) during primetime,” said Geoff Thrasher, General Sales Manager for Channel Zero.

Also premiering on CHCH this September are two back-to-back animated comedies: Family Guy presents the everyday trials and tribulations of family life with a distinctive twist and irreverent slant. Starring Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, and Seth Green. American Dad continues the comedic relief with Stan, a CIA agent in Langley Falls, VA, whose main objective in life is national security. His family, a talking goldfish and a space alien rescued from Area 51, keep him busy while he tries to prevent terrorist activity in the U.S.American Dad stars Seth MacFarlane, Wendy Schaal, and Dee Bradley Baker.

Dishing up Hollywood’s dirty laundry are Dish Nation: a daily, syndicated series featuring drive-time radio deejays riffing on the entertainment and gossip events of the day, and, Ed the Sock: I Hate Hollywood, Canada’s irreverent television icon. Look for these additions to premiere in September.Other dramatic favourites rounding out the CHCH Fall schedule include new seasons of Supernatural and Hart of Dixie starring Rachel Bilson, as well as episodes of Bones and The Glades.

  1. So, would other local stations in Canada be allowed to air Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, or is CHCH hoarding the game shows for the entire country?

  2. I don't beleive they can hold the national rights because they are only one station operating in Hamilton. On other station where I could see it landing is on JoyTV. In any case, I'll keep an eye out for it report it on Channel Canada when I see it elsewhere. Stay tuned!

  3. You’re right. In Winnipeg, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are coming to the 6pm hour on Joytv 11. Not scheduled on Joytv 10 in BC, however…
