Proving That Good Things Come in Small Packages, Makeful’s The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge Brings Miniature Crafters Directly Into Your Home

Small in scale, big in heart, The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge (8×60′) arrives on Makeful this season. Presented by self-confessed enthusiast and collector of miniatures Sandi Toksvig, the all new-competition series brings together 10 amateur crafters from across Britain as they put their miniature making skills to the test. Over eight episodes, the crafters will be judged by world-record holding micro sculptor Dr. Willard Wigan MBE and interior design guru Laura Jackson as they transform a derelict mini mansion into the ultimate fantasy house, inspired by real-world designs. Dreaming big but building small, the mini makers work in teams to tackle the house room by room, with each room having to be fully furnished in different and stunning periods from history, from Regency to Art Deco. Whether it be tiny tables, toilets, curtains or food, all of the contents made for the house must be functional and shrunk down to a twelfth of their usual size. Each week the finished designs are displayed before the judges and one will be asked to leave the competition until a winner is crowned in the finale, winning a miniature trophy and bragging rights. The Canadian broadcast premiere of The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge airs Thursday, November 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on Makeful.

By dropping by the Makeful Miniatures booth, attendees can also see the work of Canadian miniature artist Wei of Honey Thistle, enter to win her holiday themed miniature room that is being built over the 3-day event, and pick up a tiny wreath tutorial to try at home.
