Corus Entertainment’s CMT (Canada) and Lark Productions announced today the start of production in Edmonton, Alberta on Mom’s a Medium, a reality series that revolves around psychic medium Carmel Baird, her husband, their six children, and three grandchildren. The series is slated to premiere on CMT in spring 2014.
“We’re really excited to introduce the very gifted and delightful Carmel and her wonderful family to Canadian audiences this spring,” said Vibika Bianchi, Vice President, Original Programming, Corus Women and Family. “Not only are her abilities extraordinary, her daily life is highly entertaining.”
The 10 x 30-minute series provides viewers an inside look at Carmel’s intriguing, mysterious and often hilarious world as she tries to balance a hectic home life with a rather unusual line of work — talking to the dead. And, ironically, while Carmel helps her clients find peace and answers in their lives, she often struggles to bring her own bustling family the very same thing. With three teen moms, six horses, 10 chickens, six dogs, and a multitude of otherworldly souls to keep her busy, life with Carmel is always an adventure.
“We are so pleased to be working with Corus again, and especially with CMT, to introduce Mom’s a Medium to viewers across the country,” commented Louise Clark, President, Lark Productions. “Carmel has a fascinating talent and a fascinating family,” added Erin Haskett, Executive Producer, Lark Productions. “She may connect with people who have passed on, but she also genuinely connects with everyone she meets. There’s a lot of heart, humour and real-life drama rolled into this series.”
On Saturday, September 14, camera crews will be onsite at Carmel’s farm to document her annual matchmaking event, in which she uses her extra sensory abilities to match up Edmonton’s most eligible singles. The event is quite a draw for those looking to be matched up by this clairvoyant cupid. For more details, click here.
