George Lagogianes, co-host of CP24 BREAKFAST, today announced his retirement. The announcement comes following a remarkable career in broadcasting that has spanned almost 36 years, including 15 years with CP24. Lagogianes’s final broadcast will take place on Thursday, Dec. 29.
“After almost 36 years and six networks – the last and best 15 here at CP24 – it’s time to drop the mic!,” said Lagogianes. “I’ve been blessed to travel the world and spend time with thousands of brilliant and influential artists, leaders, icons, and just regular but equally remarkable people from all walks of life as a music, arts and news reporter, videographer, anchor and host on television. But the most rewarding and meaningful have been serving the CP24 audience. Informing and guiding our viewers through so many challenging events, especially the pandemic, was the singular honour of my professional life. I’ll miss the people in here and the public out there. But it’s time to hand in my playbook.”

Since joining CP24 in 2007, Lagogianes has delivered many top stories to viewers, including being the first reporter to greet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau following his 2015 election win, covering Rob Ford’s mayoralty, and reporting on the G20 protests in Toronto in 2010. He has also contributed to CP24’s live election coverage on Federal, Provincial, and Local levels.
Lagogianes landed his first job as a personal assistant with CTV Sports at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988. From 1989 to 1995, he co-hosted ELECTRIC CIRCUS, reported for MUCHNEWS, and worked as a VJ for MuchMusic. This was followed by anchoring BRAVO NEWS, and hosting ARTS & MINDS and LIVE @ THE REHEARSAL HALL on Bravo.
In 1996, Lagogianes joined CityTV in Toronto as a camera operator and live-eye videographer. He then served in various broadcasting roles with CBC, before returning to CityTV as an anchor and entertainment reporter.
Originally from Owen Sound, Ont., Lagogianes is a graduate of Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Arts from the Radio Television Arts program.
