What’s red and white and full of laughs? Why, the 2011 YUK YUK’s GREAT CANADIAN LAUGH OFF, of course! This hour-long, all Canadian stand-up thrown-down crash lands Canada Day weekend – Saturday, July 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT – exclusively on The Comedy Network. Eight up-and-coming comedians go head-to-head for a shot at fame and Canada’s largest comedy prize. Scarborough native Mark DeBonis takes the $25,000 cake in this annual battle of quips. Following the television broadcast, viewers can catch the 2011 YUK YUK’s GREAT CANADIAN LAUGH OFF online at www.thecomedynetwork.ca.
Hosted by YUK YUK’s founder Mark Breslin, the YUK YUK’s GREAT CANADIAN LAUGH OFF showcases side-splitting sets from eight finalists, each with their eye on the $25,000 prize. The laughs come courtesy of Eric Andrews, Claire Brosseau, Mark DeBonis, Brian Hatt, Massimo, Ian Peet, Darrin Rose and Eddie Della Siepe . Every joke is scrutinized by a panel of four prestigious judges, made up of Just For Laughs Festival COO Bruce Hills, CONAN Talent Coordinator Ashley Olivia, Talent Executive for CHELSEA LATELY, Michael Cox, and The Comedy Network’s very own Vice-President, Millan Curry-Sharples. Evaluated on material, delivery, timing, stage presence and audience response, DeBonis took home the grand prize with his straight-up delivery and “everyman” likeability.
