Chris Lilley is heading back to class and the comedic results are A+! Offering up a comical and brutally honest look at teenage life, Australian cult comedy SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH kicks off its eight-episode season May 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on The Comedy Network. Outrageous, politically incorrect and laugh-out-loud funny, SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH is chock full of characters that will take viewers back to their very first swirly. Viewers can prep for class by tuning in to the series finale of Lilley’s prequel series, WE CAN BE HEROES, May 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, on The Comedy Network.
Series creator and writer Chris Lilley (WE CAN BE HEROES) stars in SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH, a series that looks at an average Australian high school through the lens of fictional documentary filmmakers. Shot on location at a real high school and featuring real-life students and faculty, along with actors, SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH focuses on three characters, all played by Lilley. Meet Mr. G, a self-important, high-strung drama teacher; Jonah, a delinquent, break-dancing obsessed student struggling to stay in school and Ja’mie, a haughty, private school exchange student spending the year at Summer Heights High, previously featured on WE CAN BE HEROES
In the premiere episode, as Summer Heights High School begins a new term, the “documentary” series introduces its primary subjects. Disruptive student Jonah shows off his break-dancing skills as deluded drama teacher Mr. G grouses about staging Anything Goes instead of more imaginative fare; and self-absorbed exchange student Ja’mie arrives amidst much self-promoted fanfare.
Meet the class:
Mr. G – “I’m Director of Performing Arts – spread it”
Ja’mie King – “My breasts would have been bigger, but I had an eating disorder in Year 8.”
Jonah Takalua – “They don’t understand that I’m just choosing to be dumb. I’m not dumb, I am just choosing not to be smart at the moment.”
