With just four days to go before Sunday’s highly-anticipated series premiere on Bravo!, anticipation continues to swell:
• “Although they lived in the 15th and 16th centuries, the Borgias…[are] a family made for TV.” – New York Times.
• “…Stunning production and the indelible performances. All of it centred on Irons’ riveting, ruthless Rodrigo Borgia, a.k.a. Pope Alexander VI.” –Toronto Star
• Thus begins the ungodly power trip that is THE BORGIAS…” – Associated Press
• “Rodrigo’s blunt and crass approach both to becoming pope and then maintaining the position is at the heart of the drama in THE BORGIAS.” – Sun Media
Set in 15th century Italy at the height of the Renaissance, the international co-production (Canada/Hungary/Ireland) THE BORGIAS is the compelling and unflinching saga of one of the most remarkable and notorious families in history. From Academy Award®-winner Neil Jordan (The Crying Game), THE BORGIAS chronicles the corrupt rise of patriarch Rodrigo Borgia (Academy Award®-winner Jeremy Irons) to the papal throne, in which he stops at nothing to feed his insatiable hunger for power, influence and wealth for himself and his family. THE BORGIAS also stars Canadians Colm Feore and François Arnaud alongside David Oakes, Holliday Grainger and Lotte Verbeek. Inspiring Machiavelli’s The Prince and Mario Puzo’s The Godfather, THE BORGIAS are “The Original Crime Family”. THE BORGIAS is produced by Take 5 Productions in association with Bravo!, CTV and Showtime Networks.
