Week of September 28 – October 4: Programming Highlights for The CTV Channel Group

MUST-WATCH FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28

CTV: In an all-new episode of JANN airing Monday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, Jann (Jann Arden) has no interest in performing at a charity gala that her new manager Cale (Elena Juatco, SCHITT’S CREEK) booked for her, until she learns her ex, Cynthia (Sharon Taylor, BAD BLOOD), will be there. Jann then tries to use the event as an opportunity to win Cynthia back, but her grand gesture doesn’t go as she hoped. Making matters worse, her previous manager, Todd (Jason Blicker, STATE OF GRACE), is at the event with his new client Nia Taylor (guest star Keshia Chanté) – who’s talented, beautiful, and much younger than Jann. The episode also guest stars THE BEAVERTON’s Miguel Rivas as Nigel – one of Jann’s biggest fans.

CTV Comedy Channel: With the 2020 U.S. presidential election just over a month away, late-night staple THE DAILY SOCIAL DISTANCING SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH offers viewers critical, yet comedic, coverage of the first week of presidential debates, Monday to Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT.

CTV Drama Channel: Just in time for the Halloween season, horror anthology series MONSTERLAND debuts on Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. ET. The series premiere follows the season’s first protagonist, Shawn (Roberta Colindrez, VIDA), a middle-class suburban wife whose life is shattered by the suicide of her beloved wife, Kate (Taylor Schilling, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK), who struggled with mental illness. Bereft with grief, Shawn is surprised one morning to find Kate, soaking wet, fresh from the tub – dead, and yet undead. Determined to keep her wife safe from here on out, Shawn attempts to enact normalcy, only to learn that there is no living with a spouse who’s already dead.

CTV Life Channel: LET’S BRUNCH continues with an all-new episode, Friday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET, as host Vanessa Gianfrancesco (ONE WORLD KITCHEN) prepares a feast of brunch dishes from around the world. First stop on Gianfrancesco’s tour is the Philippines for tapsilog, a popular dish made with seasoned and seared sirloin, garlic fried rice, and a sunny side up egg. Next, she globetrots to North Africa for bisarra, a spice-packed bean purée with a protein punch! Then, Colombia beckons with arepa de huevo, a fried egg stuffed in a crispy handmade cornmeal bun and dressed with creamy avocado and pickled red onions. Last, Gianfrancesco gets tropical with her take on a classic Jamaican brunch, ackee and salt fish.

CTV Sci-Fi Channel’s PANDORA returns for Season 2 on Sunday, Oct 4 at 8 p.m. ET. In the debut episode, Jax (Priscilla Quintana, Traffik) and Xander (Oliver Dench, Ride) now both working for the Earth Confederacy Intelligence Services, attempt to track down the fugitive Tierney (Tina Casciani, MISS 2059) and discover she is searching for a destructive weapon that can potentially destroy the entire universe. Meanwhile, Jax comes face-to-face with a woman she never expected to see again: her mother, Eve (Charisma Carpenter, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER).

CTV Movies: The action thriller film The Call (2003) joins CTV Movies on Thursday, Oct. 1. A veteran operator for an emergency call-center, Jordan Turner (Halle Berry, X-Men: Days of Future Past ) saves lives daily as part of her job, but when she makes an error in judgment and a call ends badly, Turner is devastated and unsure if she should continue her line of work. Instead of quitting altogether, she decides to teach others the ropes of the high-pressure job. But when a call from Casey Welson, a kidnapped teen (Abigail Breslin, Little Miss Sunshine) comes in, Turner is the one called upon to use all of her experience, insights, and quick thinking to try to help Welson escape and ensure her kidnapper is brought to justice.
