Imagination and a Steady Hand: Special Effects Make-Up Steps into the Spotlight in the Season 3 Premiere of FACE OFF, Aug. 21 on SPACE

A new season of infinite imagination and fantastic make-up magic ignites as FACE OFF returns for Season 3 Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on SPACE. After captivating fans with magical transformations during the first two seasons, Season 3 of FACE OFF is sure to impress viewers as a new group of special effects make-up artists compete in a series of elaborate challenges to determine who has the skills and imagination to win a $100,000 prize.

After captivating fans with magical transformations during the first season, the second season of FACE OFF became the most-watched unscripted series on SPACE. The second season finale drew the highest audience of any episode of the series with an audience of 212,000. Season 2’s audience grew 65% over Season 1 among total viewers and more than doubled for the key demographic of A25-54. A fourth season of FACE OFF has already been commissioned.

Joining the series as the new judge is Neville Page, lead Creature Designer on the highest-grossing movie of all time Avatar, Character Designer on Ridley Scott’s recent blockbuster Prometheus, Lead Creature and Character Designer on J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, and Lead Concept Designer on Tron: Legacy and Creature Designer on Super 8. Page’s upcoming films include Creature Designer on The Amazing Spider-Man and his most recent work on J.J. Abrams highly anticipated next installment of the Star Trek film franchise.

Returning for Season 3 is actress and host McKenzie Westmore (ALL MY CHILDREN), along with judges Ve Neill (The Hunger Games and Pirates of the Caribbean) and Glenn Hetrick (MAD MEN, HEROES).

Season 3 of FACE OFF also boasts an array of prominent guest judge appearances including Academy-Award winning producer Brian Grazer (How The Grinch Stole Christmas, A Beautiful Mind), Kevin Smith (Red State), Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), Gale Ann Hurd (THE WALKING DEAD), and Oscar-nominated makeup artist Barney Burman (Star Trek).

With an all-new season comes all-new challenges, and this season’s batch of competitors will be faced with some of the most difficult, imaginative and inventive challenges yet. The 12 competitors will be asked to delve into the whimsical world ofDr. Seuss, conjure up creations for popular sci-fi series GRIMM, and create their own creature using inspiration from cult-classic Star Wars: A New Hope.

Coming from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of experience, the competitors also have a large range of special skills including airbrushing, painting, sculpting, foam latex, character design and sketching.
