New Look, New Co-Host, and Now Five Days a Week! INNERSPACE Takes September by Storm with Slick New Show, Beginning Sept. 19 on SPACE and SPACE HD

The universe is about to get a little warmer when SPACE ups the sexy with a whole new look for the channel’s flagship entertainment news program, INNERSPACE – now in HD! After announcing last month that Cynthia Loyst would join passionate genre experts Ajay Fry and Teddy Wilson as co-host, INNSERSPACE will air for the first time five nights a week, all from a sleek new studio custom-designed to shine in HD. The new INNERSPACE launches Monday, September 19 at 11 p.m. ET on SPACE and SPACE HD.

When the season premieres Monday, INNERSPACE will welcome genre celebrities into their new home, including Hugh Jackman, who will be the first guest to grace the all-new set. Other highlights for premiere week include an in-studio interview with Laura Mennell of SPACE’s hit series ALPHAS, and a wrap-up of the weird and wonderful films at Midnight Madness and A-list celebrity interviews direct from the Toronto International Film Festival.

With a rejuvenated set, a refreshed feel, a revved-up pace and one additional broadcast per week, INNERSPACE remains dedicated to what fans have come to know and love: celebrating all things genre. And this season more than ever, viewers can visit spacecast.com for extensive online content including extended interviews, exclusive online stories, cast blogs and photo galleries.

About Cynthia Loyst

There’s a new girl in town…and she knows a thing or two about peoples’ “inner spaces”. Cynthia Loyst is the newest co-host of InnerSPACE.

A two-time Gemini Award nominee, Loyst’s most recent role was as host and producer of “Sex Matters”. Prior to that, she spent many years as the Supervising Producer for the internationally syndicated and award-winning documentary series SexTV where she was able to boldly go where not too many people have gone before. Loyst had the opportunity to interview a wide range of people, including academics, fetishists and celebrities while supervising a variety of otherworldly productions for SexTV, including Monstrous Desires: Sexuality & Horror, Loving The Alien: Sex & Science Fiction, Remote Control: Romancing The Robot and Japanese Anime.

Loyst’s appreciation for genre entertainment began at an early age, when at just six years old, she would routinely dress up as all of the male characters in Star Wars or Battle of the Planets. Although she still has a deep affection for cosplay, Loyst’s first love is … well…love. While studying in York University’s Film program, she began writing a popular sex column titled Pandora’s Box for the independent magazine Rosco. Since then, Cynthia has become a much sought-after certified relationship coach.

Her second love is the supernatural. When not re-playing Fable she can be found pillaging the horror section of movie stores or re-reading Clive Barker’s Weaveworld. She has seen Predator too many times to count and has a huge affection for the 80’s film classic Flash Gordon. And, of course, Barbarella.

Over the past several years, Loyst has appeared many times on radio and television, including ETALK, CP24, THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW, CTV NEWSNET, Virgin Radio 99.9 FM, 103.9 Proud FM, 104.5 CHUM FM and TVO, reporting on dating, mating and relating. Her public appearances have included speaking engagements at colleges and universities throughout the GTA, such as Ryerson University, Sheridan College, Centennial College and University of Toronto – where she often guest lectures on media, technology and sexuality.

Loyst’s perfect dinner party guest list would include Bruce Campbell, Ursula K. Le Guin, David Cronenberg, Jensen Ackles and Carrie Fisher. And, of course, her InnerSPACE co-hosts Ajay Fry and Teddy Wilson would be invited too.
