Retreat to a Refuge of Adventure When Original SPACE Series SANCTUARY Returns, April 15

Dynamic characters and hair-raising special effects abound when SPACE unlocks the doors to the next installment of its #1 original series, SANCTUARY. Airing Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning April 15, Season 3 of this multiple award-winning series plunges right back into the action for its final 10 episodes, with the lives of Dr. Magnus and her team hanging by a thread.

Following each episode at 11 p.m. ET/PT, hosts Teddy Wilson and Ajay Fry lead SPACE original series INNERSPACE at it delves deep into the making of SANCTUARY with in-depth analysis, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. SANCTUARY is also available on demand at www.spacecast.com immediately following the television premiere.

SANCTUARY follows the adventures of the enigmatic scientist Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) who, with her team, shelters a clandestine population of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that most believe don’t even exist. Full of twists and turns, the first half of Season 3 raised the bar on excitement with gripping storylines and new characters. In the 3.5 premiere, the adventures pick up where the mid-season finale cliffhanger left-off, with the team at the mercy of the inimitable Ranna, played by Polly Walker (CAPRICA, ROME)

Shot extensively in front of a green screen, SANCTUARY was the first series to exclusively use the industry-changing RED® camera to enhance its awe-inspiring images and locales. Over the past two seasons, SANCTUARY has been nominated for more than 50 awards including a primetime Emmy® for “Outstanding Special Visual Effects in 2008.” It won a Gemini Award for “Best Visual Effects” in 2009 and is also the winner of 7 Leo Awards in 2010, including “Best Direction.”

SANCTUARY is a SPACE original production, shot in Vancouver. Rebecca DiPasquale is Manager of Development for SPACE. SANCTUARY was created by Damian Kindler (STARGATE SG-1, STARGATE ATLANTIS), executive produced by Damian Kindler, Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood with Andrea Gorfolova, Carrie Mudd and Keith Beedie. Sanctuary is produced by My Plastic Badger Productions and The Beedie Group, in association with Tricon Films and Television.

SPACE’s ongoing support of Canadian independent productions has been a major contributor to the success of series such as TODD & THE BOOK OF PURE EVIL, SANCTUARY, THE LISTENER, DEFYING GRAVITY, STORMWORLD, and RABBIT FALL. Documentaries include FAMOUS MONSTER and PRETTY BLOODY.
