Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury – survival experts with drastically different backgrounds – once again join forces to survive in some of the world’s toughest environments. DUAL SURVIVAL returns to Discovery World HDWednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT beginning August 17. In the ultimate test of skill, perseverance and creativity, military-trained Canterbury and naturalist Lundin battle the elements – and sometimes each other – to show what it takes to survive, using only minimal gear and what they can find in their surroundings.
Through 12 all-new episodes, the duo endures survival scenarios that push them to their limits. Canterbury and Lundin must draw upon their personal arsenal of skills to devise extraordinary, MacGyver-like ways to survive. How will they use a plastic bag, lip balm and a parachute cord while trudging through waist-deep snow in the Rocky Mountains? Or a broken cell phone, steel wool and elephant dung in the jungles of Thailand? From swamps to avalanches and sweltering heat to sub-zero temperatures, this season Lundin and Canterbury will show what it takes to survive.

DUAL SURVIVAL – “Slash and Burn”

On the southern edge of Argentina, just 800 kilometres from Antarctica lies Tierra Del Fuego – a remote island where hunters seek out game. But here, unpredictable weather and treacherous terrain can turn a small game hunt into a life of death scenario. Canterbury and Lundin show how a pair of hunters can survive in these conditions – even when one of them is injured. Without medical equipment Canterbury uses gun powder to do the unthinkable – cauterize the wound. And that’s before they push their way through dense forest and cross a bog to make it to safety.
DUAL SURVIVAL – “Buried Alive”

Almost 20 people die each year from avalanches in the U.S. But in Wyoming’s Rocky Mountains, where extreme skiers take on the 3,352-metre peaks, surviving an avalanche is only the beginning. With sub-zero temperatures, waist-deep snow and little shelter, this challenge will put Lundin and Canterbury to the test. To show how an avalanche survivor might make it to safety, they have at their disposal only what that person might have: one pair of snow shows, one ski pole, a parachute cord, a backpack, a plastic bag, lip balm and just two paper matches. Their challenge is to avoid hypothermia while making it down the mountain – and Lundin isn’t wearing any shoes.
DUAL SURVIVAL – “Stuck in the Muck”

There are more than 6,437 kilometres of cypress swamp, marshland and sawgrass prairie that make up the Florida Everglades – a haven for some of the country’s most rare and endangered species. Each year, thousands of tourists travel by airboat through this remote region to experience the untamed ecosystem firsthand. But with more than 350 airboat accidents in the last 10 years, passengers can quickly find themselves stranded, exposed to extreme heat and more than a million alligators. Lundin and Canterbury head deep into the Everglades to show what it takes to survive where, under the blazing Florida sun, it can take less than a day to die from exposure and dehydration. Scavenging from the boat before they leave, they take with them one of the most important survival resources you can have: fire.
