Taking High-Risks on the High-Seas, SWORDS: LIFE ON THE LINE Returns to Discovery World HD February 16

Enter the high-risk world of New England’s long line fishermen who risk everything to catch an elusive prey in some of the most dangerous waters on the planet. The hit documentary series, SWORDS: LIFE ON THE LINE returns February 16 at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT to Discovery World HD for a 10-part second season of adrenaline-charged adventure in the North Atlantic. Hunting creatures that can weigh more than 450 kilograms, and battling the violent storms around the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and off the Georges Bank of the Gulf of Mexico, force the crew to stay tough and work fast knowing that every day could be their last.

The series follows four boats, (The Eagle Eye II, Big Eye, Seahawk and Frances Ann), that head into these stormy waters hoping to hit the jackpot. The skippers of the boats use every ounce of experience and knowledge they have to try and find the fish. It costs around $60,000 to make the month-long journey and they need to catch thousands of kilograms of fish just to break even. One big catch can be worth as much as $20,000 so a trip can turn from disaster to success in seconds. Once the fish are caught, it’s a race to the market where the first back gets the highest prices. The job is physically and mentally exhausting. Twenty-hour days are the norm. And even if the crew catches plenty of fish, they still have to make it home alive.
