KANGAROO DUNDEE – also known as Brolga – is a strapping Australian who lives in the desert Outback with a mob of orphaned kangaroos.

He rescues baby joeys from the roadside when their mothers are killed and nurses them back to health. Premiering Sunday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT, this hugely entertaining one-hour special features the now-famous bachelor – who dedicates his life to saving red kangaroo orphans and returning them to the wild – arrives just in time for Mother’s Day 2013! Interweaved with the intimate story of raising and releasing orphaned kangaroos is stunning wildlife footage of this strange and enchanting creature – the icon of Australia.
KANGAROO DUNDEE features joeys in need of constant human care to survive. Brolga’s level of trust with his kangaroos has allowed unprecedented access to film this creature’s bizarre and fascinating biology: using macro cameras to film the momentous birth of a kangaroo embryo – the size of a jelly bean – and its epic, gravity-defying struggle from womb to pouch, at just 33 days old. With specially-developed camera technology, KANGAROO DUNDEE follows the joey’s development inside the mother’s pouch to the moment when the joey, like a jack-in-the-box, first sticks its head out of pouch and takes its first tentative and wobbly hops in the outside world.
