This holiday season, Discovery unwraps all-new episodes of metal-munching series BATTLEBOTS, airing Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT beginning Dec. 20. Spreading the holiday cheer even further, the channel also offers merry marathons of its fan-favourite series this December.
Hosted by sportscaster Chris Rose and UFC fighter Kenny Florian, Season 5 of BATTLEBOTS sees 60 teams from across the globe converge for the ultimate, steel-splitting tournament in combat robotics. Each episode highlights the creation of the remote-controlled robots, the competing teams behind them, and the epic battles that ensue in pursuit of the preeminent prize in robotic sport, the Giant Nut.
Filmed during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this season’s live audience was replaced by teams viewing from specially constructed “opera boxes” surrounding the BattleBox arena. With so much at stake for unproven rookies, up-and-coming stars, and legends alike, viewers can expect plenty of thrills, including the first-ever, 500-lb. walking robot, and an 11-year-old competitor.
In addition to robotic carnage, Discovery gifts viewers with marathons of fan-favourite series, including Discovery Original hits HIGHWAY TRHU HELL and HEAVY RESCUE: 401. Full listing below.
