Calling All Daring Canadian Thrill and Spill Seekers!

TVtropolis and Lone Eagle Entertainment dare Canadians from coast-to-coast to submit their application for a chance to compete on the world’s largest obstacle course and become a contestant on the highly-anticipated, Wipeout Canada.

Beginning today, eligible Canadians may submit their application form at www.WipeoutCanada.com. All candidates must complete their application online before the official Canada Day closing deadline at midnight, Thursday, July 1, 2010.

“We’re looking for daring, thrill-seeking Canadians who believe they have the skill to compete in Wipeout’s extremely challenging course,” said Karen Gelbart, SVP, Content, Lifestyle Channels, Canwest Broadcasting. “The program is wildly successful worldwide and we’re thrilled to have our own Canadian version.”

“Game on, Canada! If you think you have what it takes, let us know!” said Michael Geddes, Executive Producer, Lone Eagle Entertainment.

Quick-witted Canadian TV veteran Jonathan Torrens (TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens, Trailer Park Boys) and Canadian Comedy Award nominee, Ennis Esmer (Young People Fucking; The Listener) will host the Canadian format of the painfully funny series, offering humourous running commentary. Model and actress, Jessica Phillips (Deal or No Deal Canada; Being Erica) will be on the front lines of all the wipeout action as co-host, providing additional commentary and contestant reactions direct from the course.

Slated to premiere on TVtropolis in the Spring of 2011, Wipeout Canada will give 20 contestants in each episode the chance to conquer the course over four rounds of competition, ultimately leading to the crowning of the winner who will earn a $50,000 grand prize.

Thirteen one-hour Canadian episodes will be taped on the iconic Wipeout set this October, promising to provide the most spectacular and often painfully hilarious spills, face plants and wipeouts.

The Wipeout format is licensed to Lone Eagle Entertainment and is distributed in Canada by Disney and internationally by Endemol, a leading producer of television programming specializing in reality and non-scripted genres for network and cable television. The Canadian format will air on TVtropolis – joining an already robust line-up of hit reality shows including Pit Boss, America’s Worst Driver, The Marriage Ref, and Intervention.

For exclusive news, interviews, contests and behind-the-scenes footage and photos, fans are encouraged to join the Official Wipeout Canada Facebook fan page at www.Facebook/WipeoutCanada.com.

Encore presentations of Season 1 and 2 of Wipeout air on Mondays at 8pm and 9pm ET/PT on TVtropolis.
