HGTV.ca Announces Three New Web Series

HGTV.ca, Canada’s ultimate website for the hottest home related information is launching three original web series offering visitors brand new, exclusive online content. Premiering October 21 the first online series Model Home Showdown consists of five four-minute webisodes featuring dynamic HGTV personalities Cheryl Torrenueva (Superstar Design Challenge, Colin & Justin’s Home Heist) and Andrew Pike (Superstar Design Challenge, Design Rivals) as they each design and fully decorate one model home for Empire Communities in Brantford, Ontario. Buzzed about Model Home Showdown will be followed by the web series The Switch with Samantha Pynn and Starting Point.

Each Model Home Showdown webisode shows Cheryl and Andrew as they work to design their model home. They have the same budget but different styles and homes. As they battle the clock, Cheryl and Andrew feel the pressure as they pick out finishes in the showroom, encounter and overcome an act of vandalism and troubleshoot problems with furniture delivery. Throughout the process, viewers will gain valuable insights on choosing finishes for a new-build, mixing and matching standard finishes with upgrades, and learn how to choose a lasting palette for their home.

“We’re always developing content that offers our site users and HGTV fans exclusive and compelling content that complements the on-air show themes and these web series do just that,” said Christine Geddes, Director of Online Content, HGTV.ca and Foodnetwork.ca. “Featuring well-known HGTV personalities and new design ideas and techniques that are very accessible and easy to replicate, HGTV.ca and the web series are the perfect extension of well-liked HGTV shows.”

This November, HGTV.ca will launch the six-part web series The Switch with Samantha Pynn. In each webisode Sam (Pure Design) tackles one area of a home from: a bedroom, to a dining table or window treatments and provides two different design opportunities for each, offering practical tips as she goes. In 2011 HGTV.ca will launch Starting Point, a web series outlining key principles of interior design. Each two-to-three minute webisode will focus on one décor element and feature designer Anita Wiklém as she demonstrates how to design a space that is coherent and stylish using that element.
