HISTORY’s new drama series executive produced by Academy Award and Golden Globe®-winner Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future), Project Blue Book is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Aidan Gillen, Game of Thrones), a brilliant college professor recruited by the U.S. Air Force to lead the top secret investigation into UFOs and related phenomena from 1952-1970. This clandestine operation researched thousands of cases, over 700 of which remain unsolved to this day – and is the origin story of what is currently believed about UFOs and aliens.
Filmed in Vancouver, B.C.,each episode draws from the actual case files blending UFO theories with authentic historical events from one of the most mysterious eras in United States history. Throughout the season, true to life, documented occurrences are explored such as the Flatwoods Monster incident in West Virginia, the Gorman Dogfight of North Dakota, and the Lubbock Lights of Texas. Delving into themes such as trust, instinct, real news versus fake news, and government cover-ups, Project Blue Book straddles the world of science and the exploration of the unknown.
