The College State police department points out that the majority of homicides committed in the community have been directly related to domestic violence. Hosted by actress and advocate Mariska Hargitay (LAW AND ORDER SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT) and told by Detective Deirdri Fishel, TELLING AMY’S STORY follows the timeline of a domestic violence homicide that occurred on November 8, 2001.
Amy McGee’s parents, co-workers, law enforcement officers, and court personnel share their perspectives on what happened to McGee in the weeks, months, and years leading up to her death. Working backwards from the moment her life ended, Detective Fischel works tirelessly in an attempt to highlight some of the clues and warning signs that may have helped save McGee’s life.
