Discover the New Docu-Series DISCOVERED, Premiering August 16 on MuchMusic

MuchMusic unleashes its newly revamped docu-series DISCOVERED on viewers Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. ET on MuchMusic. The series, formerly known as DISBAND, has a new format, a new name, and a new attitude. DISCOVERED follows six up-and-coming artists from all across Canada with a raw, unfiltered look into the struggles and achievements that happen while trying to make it in the ever-competitive music business.

Also set to launch is the new DISCOVERED website, featuring the low-down on this season’s bands. As well, aspiring musicians can hit up the DISCOVERED page to get tips and tricks from some of the biggest names in the music industry. Short videos from industry elite include advice on how to land a record deal, shoot a music video, book shows, and more. To visit the DISCOVERED website, click here.

The artists set to make their mark on the upcoming season of DISCOVERED are:

Soulful pop-rock singer-songwriter Brett Boivin (Winnipeg, MB)
Pop-rock band Brighter Brightest (Aurora, ON)
Pop-funk group Colorsound (Montreal, QC)
Hard hitting pop-punkers For The Weekend (Calgary, AB)
Synth-rock band Nightbox (Toronto, ON/Ireland)
High energy pop-rockers Slow Motion Victory (Brantford, ON)

“Since being on DISCOVERED, For The Weekend has grown so much as a band and as people. We have been so fortunate to have been given this opportunity to showcase our music across Canada” said Myles of For The Weekend. “With this opportunity we have opened so many doors that never seemed imaginable. With DISCOVERED closing in and all the excitement building up, we are ready to hit Canada full force.”

“We think it was a great experience being part of the DISCOVERED series. When we moved to Toronto in early 2010, it was almost like starting from scratch for us. It was an entirely different market where few people had heard of us” said Nick Bitove from Nightbox. “Having DISCOVERED document our endeavours early on was great as it will allow us to look back to see how we’ve progressed as a band since moving to Toronto.”

New MuchOriginal series DISCOVERED follows the lives of six artists from all across Canada as they attempt to make their big break into the highly competitive music industry. In each episode, cameras capture the struggles and triumphs in the lives of Brett Boivin, Brighter Brightest, Coloursound, For The Weekend, Nightbox, and fan-voted Slow Motion Victory. Musician, producer, artist, and DISCOVERED mentor Greig Nori guides the artists through the ins and outs of the business, from landing gigs to landing record deals. DISCOVERED gives viewers a complete all-access, behind-the-scenes pass into the real lives of these Canadian bands.
