Smooth rhymin’ Canadian rap superstar Drake leads the pack with seven nods as the 2010 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS nominations were announced today. Drake is nominated in two UR FAVE categories and for MuchVIBE’s Hip-Hop Video of the Year for the song “Successful”. Other multiple nominees include Hedley, Justin Bieber, Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, MMVAs co-host Miley Cyrus, and performer Katy Perry. Honouring the baddest, raddest, and wildest Canadian videos of the year, the musical extravaganza airs live Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET on MuchMusic. The MMVAs RED CARPET SPECIAL kicks off the party at 8 p.m. ET.
The MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS celebrate creativity in the Canadian music video industry, honouring the artists, as well as those behind the camera. Also nabbing numerous nods are MuchMusic-discovered Stereos, the ever-changing Lady Gaga, seven-time MMVAs winners Billy Talent, fan favourites Alexisonfire, and the pride of Halifax, rapper Classified.. .
“Everyone from experienced veterans to newcomers are represented in our 2010 MMVAs nominees,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice-President, General Manager, Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “The list reflects industry leaders in the music video industry and our viewers’ favourites, which we celebrate in the MuchMusic way by throwing the biggest street party of the year for all our fans!”
