From T.V. to Twitter: 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS Rocks With Nearly 900,000 Viewers Sunday

The awards are given out, fans are fully versed in “Gangnam Style,” and the overnight ratings are in: the 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS was the #1 program in its 9-11 p.m. ET timeslot last night across all channels among P12-34, P12-17, A18-34, A18-49, and females 18-49 and 18-34. With combined airings on MuchMusic and MuchMore, the iconic street-level event pulled in a total overnight audience of 743,000 viewers, with a massive increase of 50% in the P12-17 demo. Including the 11 p.m. ET encore broadcast, 892,000 viewers tuned into the 2013 MMVAs last night.

The lead-up to the main event, the 2013 MMVAS RED CARPET SPECIAL drew whopping 443,000 viewers on Much, up 18% over last year’s broadcast.

In the Twitterverse, the event eclipsed other conversations with more than 20 MMVA-related topics trending worldwide, peaking with four in the Top 10, including the #1 spot. Throughout the three-hour broadcast, including the 2013 MMVAS RED CARPET SPECIAL, there were an astronomical 931 million social impressions from 418,000 tweets about the #MMVAs.

More than 10,000 fans descended on MuchMusic HQ to celebrate with a white-hot constellation of superstars, including Taylor Swift, Drake, Demi Lovato, Avril Lavigne, Ed Sheeran, as well as co-host PSY and scores of other artists and celebs performing, presenting, and accepting awards.
