The 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS Are Set To Cause “Heart Attacks” as Demi Lovato is Announced as First Performer

Get in line, Lovatics! MuchMusic kicks off the most exciting award show on the planet with a big name and a big voice as Demi Lovato (@ddlovato) is the first performer announced for the 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS. The X FACTOR judge, pop music role model, and all around teen sensation is making her MMVAs debut with what is sure to be a show-stopping performance. The star-studded night begins with the 2013 MMVAs RED CARPET SPECIAL onSunday, June 16 at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the live show at 9 p.m. ET on MuchMusic and Fuse.DemiKeeping with MMVA tradition, Much kicks off the biggest block party in the world with not only a mega-artist announcement, but also the launch of the Your Fave nominees. Viewers are in control of this fan-driven award in three categories – Your Fave International Artist/Group, Your Fave Video, and Your Fave Artist/Group. As one of the nominees in the Your Fave International Artist/Group category, Lovato celebrates her first MMVA appearance with not only a performance, but also a nomination (see below for additional nominees).

In the last five years, Demi Lovato has become an international star. Her debut album Don’t Forget debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold in the U.S. Lovato’s sophomore release Here We Go Again, included the hit title singlewhich became Lovato’s first Top 40 hit as a solo artist. Lovato followed with a third studio album, Unbroken, in September 2011, accompanied by her MTV documentary special, STAY STRONG, about Lovato’s recovery. In May 2012, Lovato became a judge on the highly-anticipated talent series THE X FACTOR. Her upcoming album Demi, is set for release on May 14, and includes her current Platinum hit single, “Heart Attack”.

Fans can help Demi get one step closer to her first MMVA! Right now, Lovatics can go online to mmva.muchmusic.com or cast their vote via mobile device for any of the three, 2013 MMVA Your Fave awards including Your Fave Video, Your Fave Artist/Group, and Your Fave International Artist/Group. Additionally, each of these three categories include a special Wildcard slot. Viewers are in control as they vote for the fifth and final nominee (the Wildcard) in each of the Your Fave categories.Wildcard voting closes Monday, May 20 at 12 midnight ET. The winning Wildcard nominees, along with the full lineup of the2013 MMVAs nominees, will be announced on Much’s flagship show, NEW.MUSIC.LIVE., in the coming weeks.
