The excitement emanating from the 2012 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS not only resonated with viewers on June 17, but days later as they supported their favourite artists through the purchase of their music. Recently-released data from Nielsen SoundScan revealed that since the broadcast of the 2012 MMVAs, sales of top 2012 MMVA-winner and performer Carly Rae Jepsen’s Curiosity EP jumped 64%; Canada’s rock royalty and 2012 MMVA performers Hedley’s album Storms jumped 42%, and global superstar and2012 MMVA performer and two-time winner Katy Perry’s album Teenage Dreamjumped 30%.
In digital track sales, Hedley’s single ‘Kiss You Inside Out’ jumped 109%; 2012 MMVA performer Kelly Clarkson’s single ‘Dark Side’ jumped 57% and two-time2012 MMVA winners and performers Marianas Trench’s single ‘Fallout’, saw an increase of 47% after 32 weeks on the charts.
