The MuchMusic and Coca-Cola Covers Competition Announces the Top 10 Semifinalists

As announced earlier yesterday on MuchMusic’s flagship show, NEW.MUSIC.LIVE., the Top 10 semifinalists for the MuchMusic and Coca-Cola Covers competition have been revealed! After more than 1,100 entrants submitted 1,600 videos (an increase of 18% and 65% respectively from 2012), the best rockers, crooners, and song birds have been chosen for a coveted spot in the semifinals. Details on the newly crowned Top 10 are below.

Beginning in March, Much viewers were given the chance to submit their own versions of select hit songs and post them on covers.muchmusic.com. The best of the best were chosen and narrowed down to the Top 10 based on fan views, ratings, and an extensive judging panel.

Now, these 10 hopefuls must battle it out for Covers supremacy for their opportunity to earn a spot as the Final Three. Each of the finalists is given their own commercial as well as a VIP trip to the 2013 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS in Toronto. The finalists vie for the ultimate Grand Prize – being crowned the winner of the MuchMusic and Coca-Cola Covers 2013 MuchMusic Video Award. Upping the ante this year, the competition expands to include duets, and the winner or winners sign a singles deal with Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., which includes a song release and music video funded by MuchFACT.
