Crave Highlights for January 2023

MUST-WATCH TITLES FOR JANUARY


JANUARY 6 – STARZ’s BMF *Season 2 Premiere*

  • Inspired by true legends, Season 2 of BMF chronicles the unconventional journey to success of the Flenory brothers, Demetrius Flenory “Big Meech” (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flennory Jr.) and Terry Flenory “Southwest Tee” (Da’Vinchi), who rose from the depths of poverty, navigating the war on drugs in Detroit, and became game changers in hip-hop and culture. Throughout the season, the Flenory brothers continue their pursuit of the American Dream, as they build a better life in a system that was stacked against them, and work to expand BMF into a multi-state empire. BMF follows a weekly release schedule, with new episodes dropping Fridays on STARZ.


JANUARY 12 – HBO Max’s VELMA *Series Premiere*

  • Created by and starring Mindy Kaling, HBO Max’s 10-episode animated comedy series tells the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This original and humorous spin unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers. Featuring the voices of Constance Wu, Glenn Howerton, and Sam Richardson. VELMA follows a weekly release schedule with the first two episodes streaming Thursday, Jan. 12, followed by two more episodes dropping every Thursday.


JANUARY 13 – SHOWTIME’s YOUR HONOR *Season 2 Premiere*

  • SHOWTIME’s hit drama series YOUR HONOR debuts its 10-episode second season on Friday, Jan. 13. Bryan Cranston returns as Michael Desiato, a respected New Orleans judge whose upstanding life is derailed when his teenage son’s accidental hit-and-run killing of the son of notorious crime boss Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg, Dopesick), led to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit, and impossible choices. Season 2 guest stars include Rosie Perez (THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT), Margo Martindale (THE AMERICANS) and Amy Landecker (TRANSPARENT). YOUR HONOR follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes dropping Fridays.


JANUARY 15 – HBO’s THE LAST OF US *Series Premiere*

  • Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, and based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name, HBO’s highly anticipated drama series THE LAST OF US premieres Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. ET. The series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival. Additional cast includes Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Storm Reid, Nick Offerman, and Melanie Lynskey. The nine-episode first season follows a weekly release schedule with new episodes dropping Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.

JANUARY 1 – THE BAD GUYS *Movie Premiere*

  • After a lifetime of legendary heists, notorious criminals Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark, and Ms. Tarantula are finally caught. To avoid a prison sentence, the animal outlaws must pull off their most challenging con yet: becoming model citizens. Under the tutelage of their mentor, Professor Marmalade, the dubious gang sets out to fool the world that they’re turning good. Featuring the voices of Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Awkwafina, Anthony Ramos, and Craig Robinson.


JANUARY 6 – THE NORTHMAN *Movie Premiere*

  • Prince Amleth is on the verge of becoming a man when his father is brutally murdered by his uncle, who kidnaps the boy’s mother. Two decades later, Amleth is now a Viking who raids Slavic villages. He soon meets a seeress who reminds him of his vow: save his mother, kill his uncle, avenge his father. Directed by Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The Witch), and starring an all-star cast, including Alexander Skarsgård, Anya Taylor-Joy, Björk, Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and Ethan Hawke.


JANUARY 6 – WITHOUT SIN *Miniseries Premiere*

  • WITHOUT SIN is a Nottingham-based crime drama that focuses on grieving mother, Stella’s life three years after her teenage daughter is murdered. Wracked with guilt and remorse at the events of that night, she chooses to live a nocturnal existence as an Uber driver, until she is contacted by the Department of Restorative Justice with a taped recording of Charles Stone, her daughter’s convicted killer. Going one step further, Stella agrees to meet Charles in prison. But nothing could prepare her for what Charles has to say next. All four episodes of the miniseries drop on Friday, Jan. 6.


JANUARY 12 – HBO Max’s THE CLIMB *Series Premiere*

  • From Jason Mamoa and legendary rock climber Chris Sharma, the HBO Max Original rock climbing competition series THE CLIMB debuts with three episodes on Thursday, Jan. 12. In this all-encompassing, eight-episode competition, amateur climbers are put through a rigorous series of mental and physical challenges, utilizing some of the most intimidating ascents in the world to crown the world’s best amateur climber with a sponsored climbing ambassadorship, and a $100,000 cash prize. THE CLIMB follows a weekly release schedule with three episodes dropping Jan. 19, and the final two on Jan. 26.


JANUARY 20 – AMBULANCE *Movie Premiere*

  • From action director Michael Bay, and starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, AMBULANCE streams Friday, Jan. 20. Needing money to cover his wife’s medical bills, a decorated veteran teams up with his adoptive brother to steal $32 million from a Los Angeles bank. However, when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate thieves hijack an ambulance that is carrying a severely wounded cop and an EMT work Caught in a high-speed chase, the two siblings must figure out a way to outrun the law while keeping their hostages alive.
