Crave Original Documentary ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND to Premiere Tomorrow, April 3

Following screenings at multiple festivals, a North American theatrical run, and a Canadian Screen Award nomination, Bell Media’s Crave confirmed today that it has moved up the streaming debut of the critically acclaimed, Crave Original feature documentary ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND to tomorrow, Friday, April 3, only on Crave. The 100-minute documentary will receive its world television premiere on Crave’s TV channel, Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m. ET.

ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND celebrated its World Premiere last September when it was selected as the Opening Night Film at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and will join Crave’s acclaimed Best of TIFF Collection when it launches on April 3.

“We’re thrilled to finally debut this incredible documentary film on the streaming service where it began,” said Randy Lennox, President, Bell Media. “With so many Canadians currently at home, it’s the perfect time to take a break and go on a journey revisiting the story of one of Canada’s larger-than-life cultural icons.”

From White Pine Pictures, Bell Media Studios, Polygram Entertainment, and Imagine Documentaries, and directed by Daniel Roher, ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND is a confessional, cautionary, and occasionally humorous tale of Robertson’s young life and the creation of one of the most enduring groups in the history of popular music. Inspired by Robertson’s bestselling memoir, Testimony (Penguin/Random House, 2017), the film blends rare archival footage and interviews with many of Robbie Robertson’s friends and collaborators, including Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Martin Scorsese, Taj Mahal, Peter Gabriel, David Geffen and Ronnie Hawkins, among others.

Also streaming now on Crave is Martin Scorsese’s legendary music documentary THE LAST WALTZ. The 1978 film chronicles The Band’s star-studded farewell concert and features appearances by Ronnie Hawkins, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and others.

ONCE WERE BROTHERS: ROBBIE ROBERTSON AND THE BAND is also executive produced by Justin Wilkes and Sara Bernstein for Imagine Documentaries; White Pines Pictures’ president Peter Raymont, and Steve Ord; Jared Levine; Michael Levine; Bell Media president, Randy Lennox; Universal Music Canada president and CEO Jeffrey Remedios; and Dave Harris.
