TIFF and Bell Media’s Crave continue to bring Canadians together to experience film from the comfort of their own homes. The next instalments of Stay-at-Home Cinema will take place Wednesday, April 22 (ANTHROPOCENE: THE HUMAN EPOCH), Friday, April 24 (THE HATE U GIVE), and Saturday, April 25 (HBO Films’ BAD EDUCATION).
Stay-at-Home Cinema is an event to look forward to each week, and a way to connect film lovers to each other while they enjoy classic films. Additional movie titles — all available on Crave — along with special guests are announced each week on TIFF and Crave’s respective social media channels.
On Wednesday, April 22, in celebration of both National Canadian Film Day and Earth Day, audiences can watch a virtual Q&A on Instagram Live at 7pm EDT (@tiff_net) between multiple award–winning filmmakers Jennifer Baichwal (a TIFF Share Her Journey Ambassador) and Nicholas de Pencier, and TIFF Artistic Director and Co-Head Cameron Bailey. At 7:30pm EDT, following the chat, audiences are invited to screen the Crave Original documentary ANTHROPOCENE: THE HUMAN EPOCH. Third in a trilogy that also includes MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPES (2006) and WATERMARK (2013), ANTHROPOCENE (directed by Baichwal, de Pencier, and photographer Edward Burtynsky) chronicles the catastrophic path travelled by our species over the last century.
National Canadian Film Day celebrates our country’s extraordinary cinematic achievements with more than 1,000 Canadian films streaming across the country and around the world.
On Friday, April 24, the featured film is THE HATE U GIVE. Bailey will speak about the film and its impact at 7pm EDT (@tiff_net) with a guest to be confirmed. At 7:30pm EDT, audiences are invited to screen THE HATE U GIVE on Crave.
On Saturday, April 25, Stay-at-Home Cinema presents HBO Films’ BAD EDUCATION, the same night as its world television and streaming premiere on HBO. Bailey’s Q&A with actor and 2019 TIFF Rising Star Geraldine Viswanathan ( MIRACLE WORKERS, HALA) begins at 8pm EDT (@tiff_net). Audiences can stream BAD EDUCATION, which made its World Premiere at TIFF 2019, at 8:30pm EDT, only on Crave.
