TIFF and Bell Media’s Crave continue their commitment to bringing Canadians together to experience film from the comfort of their own homes. The next instalments of Stay-at-Home Cinema will take place Thursday, May 21 (Looper), Tuesday, May 26 (Falls Around Her), and Wednesday, May 27 (Sense and Sensibility).
Stay-at-Home Cinema is appointment viewing at its best. It is an event to look forward to each week, and a way to connect film lovers to each other while they enjoy classic films. Additional movie titles — all available on Crave — along with special guests are announced each week on TIFF and Crave’s respective social media channels.
On Thursday, May 21, 7pm EDT, join TIFF Artistic Director and Co-Head Cameron Bailey via livestream at tiff.net as he chats with writer-director Rian Johnson, whose visually dazzling time-travel film Looper premiered at TIFF 2012. At 7:30pm EDT, audiences are invited to watch Looper on Crave.
The film on offer for Tuesday, May 26 is Falls Around Her, which premiered at TIFF 2018 and opened the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival the same year. Bailey’s featured guest is legendary Cree and Métis actor Tantoo Cardinal. The livestream begins at 7pm EDT at tiff.net. At 7:30pm EDT, audiences are invited to watch Falls Around Her on Crave.
On Wednesday, May 27 audiences can enjoy a special “Books on Film” Stay-at-Home Cinema event. The featured film is Ang Lee’s English-language debut, Sense and Sensibility, celebrating 25 years since its release. Eleanor Wachtel, CBC radio host and author, and founding host of TIFF’s Books on Film series, will host the Q&A on tiff.net at 7pm EDT, with Academy Award–winning actor Kate Winslet as her guest. Audiences can watch Sense and Sensibility at 7:45pm EDT, only on Crave.
As was previously announced, Crave is providing one month free for any new, direct-to-consumer subscribers with access to the internet, expanding the trial period during which Canadians can sample the service from seven to 30 days. The one-time-only offer is for first-time, direct-to-consumer subscribers, and can be accessed now on the Crave app or Crave.ca. For more information, please see crave.ca and tiff.net.
