Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Heads to North Bay for BOOST National, Oct. 4-9

North Bay is set to host the first event of the 2022-23 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season next week as the world’s best curlers slide into North Bay Memorial Gardens for the BOOST National from Oct. 4-9. Exclusive TV and streaming coverage of the premier curling event begins Thursday, Oct. 6 with coverage available across Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE, Sportsnet 360 and via live stream on SN NOW.

Returning to North Bay Memorial Gardens following a successful Grand Slam event in 2019, the BOOST National will feature 16 top men’s and 16 elite women’s teams from around the world. The BOOST National marks the Grand Slam debut of several new-look teams featuring fan-favourite players, including Team Gushue (St. John’s), Team Jones (Winnipeg), Team Homan (Ottawa), Team Koe (Calgary) and Team Bottcher (Edmonton).

All participating teams will battle in a round-robin style bonspiel, competing for a combined $300,000 prize purse and a berth in the KIOTI Tractor Champions Cup. Full broadcast schedule and complete team lists are available online.

Live from the centre of the action, Sportsnet’s expert curling commentators are set to deliver exclusive insight and analysis from North Bay Memorial Gardens. Veteran play-by-play announcer Rob Faulds returns to the broadcast booth alongside celebrated Canadian Olympic medalists and curling analysts, Kevin Martin, Mike Harris, and Joan McCusker. Olympic gold medalist Jennifer Jones will also be returning to the booth for select broadcasts throughout the week.

In addition to the start of the Grand Slam season, the race for the 2022-23 Pinty’s Cup also gets underway next week in North Bay. The Pinty’s Cup is a season-long competition to accumulate points according to their performances at each Grand Slam event. The top four men’s and women’s teams that collects the highest total of points by the conclusion of the Princess Auto Players’ Championship in April will capture a share of the $300,000 Pinty’s Cup Bonus Pool.
