Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling Slides into Grande Prairie for HearingLife Tour Challenge, Oct. 18-23

Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling is making its way west to welcome the world’s best curlers to Grande Prairie, Alberta for the HearingLife Tour Challenge from October 18-23. Exclusive TV and streaming coverage of the premier curling event begins Thursday, Oct. 20 with coverage available across Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE, Sportsnet 360 and via live stream on SN NOW.

Sliding into Coca-Cola Centre, the HearingLife Tour Challenge is the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling series’ largest event ever with 64 teams competing. The event will feature two tiers of leading men’s and women’s curlers from across the globe, including 32 women’s teams and 32 men’s teams. Top tier talent in action next week includes defending event champions Team Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE), 2022 Olympic gold-medallists Team Edin (Karlstad, SWE), reigning world champions Team Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI) and five-time Grand Slam champions Team Mouat (Stirling, SCO). Competition will also include several new-look Canadian teams featuring fan-favourites such as Team Gushue (St. John’s), Team Homan (Ottawa), Team Bottcher (Edmonton), and Team Jones (Winnipeg).

The two-tiered, round-robin style event will see teams competing for a combined $350,000 prize purse ($250,000 awarded to Tier 1, $100,000 to Tier 2) and a berth in the KIOTI Tractor Champions Cup.

Taking viewers to the heart of the action, Sportsnet’s expert curling commentators are set to deliver exclusive insight and analysis from the Coca-Cola Centre. Veteran play-by-play announcer Rob Faulds returns to the broadcast booth alongside celebrated Canadian Olympic medallists and curling analysts, Kevin Martin, Mike Harris, and Joan McCusker. Olympic gold medallist Jennifer Jones will also be returning to the booth for select broadcasts throughout the season.

The Grand Slam season got underway in North Bay earlier this month, with Team Gushue and Team Tirinzoni taking home the 2022 BOOST National crowns. As the season continues, the race for the 2022-23 Pinty’s Cup also continues next week in Grande Prairie. The Pinty’s Cup is a season-long competition where teams accumulate points according to their performances at each Grand Slam event. The top four men’s and women’s teams that collect the highest total of points by the conclusion of the Princess Auto Players’ Championship in April will capture a share of the $300,000 Pinty’s Cup Bonus Pool.

Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling competitors and Sportsnet’s curling commentators are available to discuss the HearingLife Tour Challenge and 2022-23 Grand Slam season. For media accreditation, please contact [email protected].

Owned and operated by Sportsnet since 2012, the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling is an elite series of six curling events and feature the best men’s and women’s teams from across Canada and around the world. Awarding equal purses to both men’s and women’s teams since 2015, Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling presents $2.1 million in total prize money each season.
