Vancouver’s Home of Baseball: Sportsnet Acquires Exclusive Radio Rights to Vancouver Canadians

Let’s play ball! Adding to its premium roster of live sports content, Sportsnet 650 has acquired the exclusive radio rights to the Vancouver Canadians, the Class A Short Season affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Set to deliver the sounds of Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver’s all-sports radio station will broadcast C’s home games and select road games beginning with the 2019 season.

Bolstering its baseball lineup, which includes Blue Jays broadcasts, Sportsnet 650’s acquisition of the C’s broadcasts makes it Vancouver’s exclusive radio home of Canadian baseball.

“The Canadians have been instrumental in the growth of baseball in Canada, producing Blue Jays stars such as Kevin Pillar, Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez,” said Craig MacEwen, Program Director, Sportsnet 650. “We look forward to shining the spotlight on the game’s future stars as they begin their journey in Vancouver, and delivering world-class coverage to the city’s passionate baseball fans.”

“Canada’s love of baseball is a part of our national identity. From the first pitch in spring, to the final swing of the bat in the fall, Canadians are united through their shared passion of the game,” said Scott Moore, President, Sportsnet and NHL Properties. “At Sportsnet, we have the honour and privilege of being Canada’s home of baseball, delivering the excitement of summer to dedicated fans across the country. We look forward to bringing viewers more of the game they love through our partnership with the Vancouver Canadians.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Sportsnet to bring Canadians Baseball to fans across the province of British Columbia and across Canada,” said Andy Dunn, President, Vancouver Canadian Baseball Club. “This partnership will allow fans a unique opportunity to listen to and see the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospects early in their career. We look forward to sharing the story of Canadians Baseball with everyone.”

Vancouver Canadians play-by-play announcer Rob Fai will have the call on Sportsnet 650 as the C’s take to the field in Summer 2019.

Sportsnet will also televise six Vancouver Canadians games on Sportsnet Pacific throughout the 2019 season. A full radio & TV broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

Launched in September 2017, Sportsnet 650 is the exclusive radio broadcaster of the Vancouver Canucks and Vancouver Giants, and home to Toronto Blue Jays and Vancouver Canadians radio coverage in Vancouver. Available on the dial at 650 AM, Sportsnet 650 is also accessible on HD Receivers at HD3 on 96.9FM, as well as on the Sportsnet App, the Radioplayer Canada App or by streaming live on Sportsnet.ca/650.
