New York City’s Red Bull Arena plays host to some of soccer’s biggest names and TSN captures all the action, as the MLS All-Stars take on the Manchester United of the English Premier League in the 2011 MLS ALL-STAR GAME, live this Wednesday, July 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The 2011 MLS-ALL STAR GAME features the LA Galaxy’s David Beckham, Sporting Kansas City’s Omar Bravo and the host city’s Thierry Henry. With Beckham, a former Manchester United midfielder, Bravo, a world-class striker, and Henry, a World Cup champion, the trio strengthens the team’s chances of defeating the 2010-2011 Premier League champion. Last year, Manchester United won theMLS ALL-STAR GAME 5-2, becoming the first international club to defeat the all-star squad in regulation time (Everton won the 2009 MLS ALL-STAR GAME in shootouts).
Manchester United is coming off its 19th league title with a stacked roster featuring some of the top-tier players in the world. Former Welsh national team captain Ryan Giggs, England’s Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, Portugal’s Nani, French international Patrice Evra, Serbian national team star Nemanja Vidic, Mexico’s Javier “Chícharito” Hernández, South Korea’s Ji-Sung Park, and others return from last season’s Premier League title winners.
In addition, ESPN Classic kicks off action from the most memorable MLS ALL-STAR GAMES, airing the 2006, 2007 and 2008 match-ups.
