Check In and Show Your Colours: TSN Check-In App Returns on Facebook for UEFA EURO 2012

Soccer fans have yet another way to fly their nation’s flag, as TSN today announced the return of the popular TSN Check-In app on Facebook – giving fans the ability to connect socially by showing their pride and passion for their favourite team competing in UEFA EURO 2012.  In March, the TSN Check-In app was shortlisted by the Shorty Industry Awards in the category of “Best Use of Social Media for Sports.”

The first of its kind within the Canadian sports landscape, the TSN Check-In app for UEFA EURO 2012 takes the experience of supporting a team beyond the gates of the host venues in Poland and Ukraine, and extends it globally through the viral power of a fan’s Facebook network.  Whether they’re cheering for the same team or fuelling a heated rivalry, fans are instantly engaged with each other just by using the TSN Check-In app and checking in while watching the tournament.

Fans can register for the app at TSN.ca/CheckIn and use Facebook Places on their mobile device to check in while watching TSN’s live broadcasts of UEFA EURO 2012.  Each time a fan checks in, a flag representing their favourite EURO squad pinpoints their location on a real-time, interactive map, which will be showcased during TSN’s broadcasts from June 8 to July 1.

New features added to the TSN Check-In app for UEFA EURO 2012 include:

  •          A Head-to-Head Live Check-In Meter displaying the percentage of real-time check-ins by fans as they light the map while watching the tournament on TSN
  •          A Check-In Leaderboard with the top 10 cumulative total check-ins by fans of each nation competing in the tournament
  •          National Trending Locations featuring a list of the top five locations nationally where fans are checking-in from the most

By using the TSN Check-In app during UEFA EURO 2012 game broadcasts, fans can earn entries into the grand prize draw for a trip for two to a European country of their choice.

The TSN Check-In app complements the network’s extensive multi-platform coverage of UEFA EURO 2012, which includes live coverage of all 31 games on TSN and TSN2, extensive digital coverage with the TSN EURO 2012 companion viewing apps for mobile devices, and access to live streaming of games on TSN.ca.

An integral part of TSN’s industry-leading strategy of engaging fans through social media applications and platforms, the TSN Check-In app made its debut last December in conjunction with the start of the 2012 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP.
