Football Prospects Step Into the Limelight at the 2011 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT, Live on TSN, May 8

The next wave of Canadian football stars will be introduced during the 2011 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT, live May 8 at 12:30 p.m. ET, exclusively on TSN. The two-hour TSN original production, which is also available on TSN MOBILE TV, features the first two rounds of the draft with CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon in the CFL ON TSN studio to announce each selection.

Following the televised broadcast of the first and second rounds, TSN.ca will feature bonus live streaming coverage of the third to sixth rounds.

Host Rod Black will be joined in studio with CFL analysts Chris Schultz, Matt Dunigan and Glen Suitor, as they analyze team needs and break down each pick chosen in the first two rounds.

CFL ON TSN analyst and DRAFT guru Duane Forde and TSN’s Farhan Lalji will co-host an additional panel of experts. Forde, who has covered the DRAFT on six previous occasions and Lalji, who has seen more than 40 of his players go on to play at the collegiate level during his 20 years of coaching, will sit down with University of Calgary Dinos head coach Blake Nill and Saint Mary’s Huskies head coach Steve Sumarah.

During the 2011 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT, Canada’s industry-leading sports website will feature video profiles of some of the top prospects, host a live interactive DRAFT blog and post all of the player selections. For additional DRAFT insight, Canadian football fans can also access Forde’s popular TSN.ca blog and his exclusive CFL Draft Rankings.

TSN’s coverage of the 2011 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT begins with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the clock with the first overall pick. The six-round draft features eligible Canadian players from the CIS and NCAA. The top prospects include: Rice University offensive tackle Scott Mitchell from Ottawa, ON; University of Calgary receiver Anthony Parker from Okotoks, AB; St. Francis Xavier linebacker Henoc Muamba from Mississauga, ON; Baylor University centre Philip Blake from Toronto, ON; and University of Tulsa offensive tackle Tyler Holmes from Ottawa, ON.

Along with coverage of the 2011 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT, TSN, TSN2 and TSN MOBILE TV will broadcast seven pre-season CFL games featuring each of the league’s eight teams. Live pre-season coverage kicks off on Wednesday, June 15 with BC @ Calgary at 9 p.m. ET on TSN2.

TSN is also home to every single CFL game in High Definition, beginning with the season-opening RONA CANADA DAY KICK-OFF on Thursday, June 30 featuring BC @ Montreal at 7 p.m. ET and leading up to the playoffs and the GREY CUP.

TSN MOBILE TV is currently available on video-enabled mobile devices subscribing to Bell Mobile TV Sports Package.
