Rugby broadcasters Gareth Rees, Brian Spanton and Nigel Reed have joined TSN’s coverage of the RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011, hosting pre- and post-game shows and filing regular SPORTSCENTRE reports during the tournament. The RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 kicks off this Friday at 3:30 a.m. ET live on TSN2 with the opening ceremonies followed by New Zealand vs. Tonga.
TSN gets fans ready for the RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 with a 30-minute tournament preview special on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN(encore on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 12 midnight ET). In addition, TSN’s rugby broadcasters take a look at Team Canada’s roster during a pre-game special onWednesday, Sept. 14 at 12:30 a.m. ET, followed by Canada’s opening match against Tonga at 1 a.m. ET live on TSN.
Throughout the tournament, Rees, Spanton and Reed will deliver in-depth analysis on the RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011 and appear on SPORTSCENTRE in special rugby reports.
Rees played in four Rugby World Cups – twice as the captain of Team Canada – and was inducted into the BC Rugby Hall of Fame in 2007, while Spanton – a former Team Canada player and university rugby coach – has covered the last three Rugby World Cups. Reed has spent 25 years covering a wide variety of international sports, including rugby, during a five-year stint with the BBC.
As the exclusive broadcaster of RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011, every match from the tournament will be broadcast live on TSN, TSN2 or TSN.ca.
