TSN has live coverage of the biggest game in Canadian Interuniversity Sport as the University of Calgary Dinos and Université Laval Rouge et Or do battle in the 2010 DESJARDINS VANIER CUP on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 11:30 a.m. ET from Laval, QC. The game will also be available on-demand at TSN.ca following the conclusion of the live television broadcast. The 2010 DESJARDINS VANIER CUP airs live as part of GREY CUP SATURDAY as TSN delivers 11 hours of all-encompassing coverage of Canada’s game leading up to the 98th GREY CUP on Sunday.
Rod Smith hosts the live coverage from TSN’s studios alongside University of Saskatchewan Huskies head coach Brian Towriss and University of Western Ontario Mustangs head coach Greg Marshall. On-site at Laval’s PEPS Stadium, Rod Black handles the play-by-play duties and is joined in the broadcast booth by analyst Duane Forde with Katherine Dolan reporting from the sidelines.
2010 DESJARDINS VANIER CUP host, Laval, is the top-ranked team in CIS football this season and enters the championship game as the only undefeated team. In a battle of the country’s top defences, the Rouge et Or defeated the CIS’s #2-ranked Western Mustangs 13-11 in Saturday’s thrilling Uteck Bowl to stretch their home winning streak to 43 consecutive games. Laval is a perfect 5-0 in its previous trips to the DESJARDINS VANIER CUP, but will be in tough against a Calgary Dinos team that has been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks.
The University of Calgary Dinos entered Saturday’s Mitchell Bowl against the Saint Mary’s Huskies on the heels of a 56-3 drubbing of the Alberta Golden Bears in the Canada West Final. The Dinos continued to roll as they dominated the Huskies on both sides of the ball on Saturday and came away with an impressive 35-8 victory to earn a second consecutive trip to the DESJARDINS VANIER CUP. Calgary is looking for redemption after a heartbreaking 33-31 loss to Queen’s in last year’s national championship game and will need to keep their momentum going in order to beat Laval and its vaunted defence on their home turf this Saturday.
