NHL ON TSN Hits the Ice with Extensive Coverage and Analysis of 2010-11 NHL Season

From the first whistle, TSN drops the puck on the 2010-11 NHL ON TSN season with the most nationally-televised regular season games and the most comprehensive NHL coverage across multiple platforms in Canada. With more coverage on TSN, TSN2, TSN.ca and TSN MOBILE than ever before, fans of Canada’s favourite pastime will not miss any of the action on – or off – the ice during the NHL season.

A total of 124 games will air on multiple distribution platforms: 76 games on TSN and 48 games on TSN2, with 72 games featuring at least one Canadian team. All games on TSN and TSN2 are available nationally in High Definition. Games and highlights are also available on demand at TSN.ca. (For complete NHL ON TSN broadcast schedule visit TSN.ca.)

In addition, TSN ensures hockey fans are well-served this NHL season with the return of the weekly staple, WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY, along with THAT’S HOCKEY, and up-to-the-minute NHL news and highlights on SPORTSCENTRE featuring insight and analysis from the NHL ON TSN broadcast team.

TSN’s comprehensive coverage of the NHL also includes the first three rounds of the STANLEY CUP® PLAYOFFS, and exclusive Canadian coverage of the 2011 NHL DRAFT LOTTERY in April and the 2011 NHL ENTRY DRAFT in June.

Regular season coverage on TSN begins opening day, Thursday, Oct. 7, with an NHL Premiere game as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Minnesota Wild at 12 noon ET from Helsinki. WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY begins the following week on October 13 with doubleheader action featuring Toronto @ Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. ET immediately followed by Vancouver @ Anaheim at 10 p.m. ET.

TSN2 has live NHL action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 with Colorado @ Detroit at 7:30 p.m. ET.

NHL ON TSN Broadcast Team
Covering the NHL from all the angles, the NHL ON TSN broadcast team returns for more hockey, hard-hitting analysis and hilarity throughout the 2010-11 season.

James Duthie returns as host of NHL ON TSN, alongside Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger, lead NHL ON TSN studio analyst Craig MacTavish, and hockey commentator Dave Hodge in his popular weekly segment, HodgeMail.

Also returning to NHL ON TSN this season are analysts Matthew Barnaby, Keith Jones, Darren Pang, Michael Peca, Mike Johnson and Aaron Ward, with analysts Pierre McGuire and Ray Ferraro appearing in studio when not providing colour commentary for the games.

SPORTSCENTRE anchor Darren Dutchyshen provides up-to-the-minute NHL news and highlights during intermissions.

For the network’s extensive NHL coverage, TSN has two broadcast teams with play-by-play announcers Gord Miller and Chris Cuthbert and game analysts McGuire and Ferraro. Once again, NHL ON TSN features the 1-Up/1-Down format during its hockey broadcasts. The 1-Up/1-Down arrangement has Miller/Cuthbert in the broadcast booth with McGuire/Ferraro providing analysis from between the benches at ice level.

TSN.ca
TSN.ca is the most comprehensive online destination for hockey fans in Canada, as the country’s leading sports website features all the latest news, scores and stats, along with highlights of every game, in-depth features and exclusive interviews with players, coaches and GMs from around the league. Columns and Blogs
James Duthie joins TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger and analyst Ray Ferraro on TSN.ca, as they all return to the website with weekly columns and one-on-one interviews with NHL stars. Also returning to NHL ON TSN is Dave Hodge’s weekly HodgeMail segment, where Hodge examines the NHL’s hot button issues and invites viewers to weigh in via email. Topics up for discussion in HodgeMail are posted on TSN.ca and on TSN’s Fan Page on Facebook.
