TSN showcases the next generation of CFL stars as the top Canadian football prospects step into the spotlight during the seven-round2013 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT, live on Monday, May 6 at 12 noon ET, exclusively on TSN.
The two-hour TSN original production, which is also available live on TSN Mobile TV, features the first two rounds of the draft with CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon in the CFL ON TSN studio to announce each selection.
Following the televised broadcast of the First and Second Rounds, TSN.ca has bonus live streaming coverage of the Third to Seventh Rounds of the 2013 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT.
Hosted by TSN’s Rod Black, the 2013 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT also features CFL ON TSN analyst and DRAFT guru Duane Forde, who has covered the draft on eight previous occasions. CFL ON TSN analysts Chris Schultz and Paul LaPolice join Black and Forde on the panel to break down the DRAFT from the perspective of all teams and analyze the players selected over the course of the first two rounds.
Also in the TSN Studio is TSN Football Insider Dave Naylor, who is joined by an additional panel of experts featuring Stefan Ptaszek, head coach of the McMaster Marauders who led his team to the last two Vanier Cup finals, Brian Dobie head coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons who won the Vanier Cup in 2007, and Danny Maciocia, head coach of the Université de Montreal Carabins and a long-time CFL coach who won the 93rd Grey Cup with the Edmonton Eskimos.
TSN’s coverage of the 2013 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT begins with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the clock with the first overall pick. The 2013 CFL CANADIAN DRAFT will also feature the league’s new Ottawa franchise selecting players – limited to those with an additional year of NCAA eligibility as the team joins the league in 2014 – over the first four rounds.
The seven-round draft features eligible Canadian players from the CIS and NCAA. Top prospects include:
- University of Regina defensive lineman Stefan Charles from Toronto
- University of Calgary defensive lineman Linden Gaydosh from Peace River, AB
- McMaster University offensive lineman Matt Sewell from Milton, ON
- Eastern Michigan defensive lineman Andy Mulumba from Montreal
- University of Calgary linebacker Mike Edem from Brampton, ON

Earlier this year, Bell Media’s TSN and RDS announced a broad that extends the networks’ long-term partnership with the CFL through to 2018. As part of the extension, TSN and RDS continue to be the exclusive home of CFL pre-season and regular season games, playoffs, and the Grey Cup, as well as the CFL Draft and CFL Combine. In addition to broadcast and digital rights, the deal includes exclusive radio rights to the Grey Cup for TSN and TEAM Radio stations.
CFL ON TSN’s live pre-season coverage kicks off Wednesday, June 12 with Toronto @ Winnipeg at 8 p.m. ET. Regular season coverage begins Thursday, June 27 with Montreal @ Winnipeg at 9 p.m. ET followed by doubleheader action on Friday, June 28 with Hamilton @ Toronto at 7 p.m. ET followed by BC @ Calgary at 10 p.m. ET on TSN.
