TSN and Running Room have partnered to create the original digital series KNOWLEDGE AND PERFORMANCE: THE SCIENCE OF RUNNING. Available exclusively on TSN.ca/Running, the 13-part branded content series is hosted by popular scientist and physiologist Dr. Greg Wells and gives insight on the science of a runner’s body and how they can improve their performance. KNOWLEDGE AND PERFORMANCE: THE SCIENCE OF RUNNING is sponsored exclusively by Mizuno and PowerBar.
“Partnering with Running Room on THE SCIENCE OF RUNNING illustrates how TSN continues to innovate with content while entertaining and informing its audience,” said Mark Silver, Head of TSN Digital. “During the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic broadcasts, Dr. Wells became synonymous with the science of sport. His new series delivers tremendous insight on running and how to properly push and train the human body while also providing our advertisers with sponsorship of unique branded content only available on TSN.ca.”
KNOWLEDGE AND PERFORMANCE: THE SCIENCE OF RUNNING uses cutting-edge computer generated imagery to peel back the skin and highlight the amazing science of the human body. This visual exploration reveals the effect of running on the blood, heart, lungs, muscles, and even the brain as runners push themselves to new limits.
“The new technologies that we used in production have allowed us to show how the physiology of exercise, training and adaptation works in a way that’s incredible from a visual perspective and makes the science understandable to everyone,” said Dr. Wells.
Complementing the series, TSN.ca features detailed Running Room articles that dig deeper into the science of training and performing. The articles cover different aspects of running science including endurance, hills, intervals, and nutrition, and explore the positive impact of running on ageing, the immune system, and sleep.
“Running Room is thrilled to be working with Dr. Greg Wells and TSN on this latest extension to our highly successful running clinics. Over 600,000 athletes have enjoyed the clinics for fitness, relaxation and creativity. Now, in addition to understanding their athletic aspirations, they will visually experience the true science behind their training,” said John Stanton Sr., Founder, Running Room.
“TSN and Running Room have created an entertaining video series that helps athletes not only understand the science of training, but also the role of nutrition and the science behind how the body recovers. This is the perfect environment for PowerBar to share the benefits of our sports nutrition products for endurance athletes,” said Brian Baker, Canadian Country Business Manager for PowerBar.
