TSN Brings Canadians More Than 130 Hours of Live Coverage From the U.S. OPEN, Beginning Monday

The bright lights of New York City will serve as the backdrop to the year’s final Grand Slam. With more than 130 hours of live coverage, the 2011 U.S OPEN airs live on TSN, TSN2 and TSN MOBILE TVbeginning Monday, August 29 with men’s and women’s first round coverage (see complete schedule below).

TSN’s exclusive live coverage of the U.S. OPEN includes both the men’s and women’s early round matches, round of 16, quarter-finals, semifinals and finals.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal finally broke through to win the U.S. OPEN title in 2010 making him the youngest player to complete the career Grand Slam. This year he looks to defend his title against tournament favorites, current world #1 ranked Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Canadian Daniel Nestor and his doubles partner Max Mirnyi will look for their second doubles Grand Slam title of the season after winning the French Open title in June.

In the women’s field, three-time U.S. OPEN champion and former runner-up Serena Williams returns to the U.S. OPEN after missing the tournament in 2010. Williams is fresh off consecutive tournament wins in Stanford and Toronto. The top seed in New York will be current world No. 1 and 2009 U.S. OPEN runner-up Caroline Wozniacki, while Vancouver’s Rebecca Marino is the highest ranked Canadian women in the tournament at 39th in the world.

The U.S. OPEN is part of TSN, TSN2 and TSN MOBILE TV’s tennis broadcast schedule that consists of all four Grand Slam tournaments.
