TSN Congratulates Jason deVos on his Induction to Canada’s Soccer Hall of Fame

TSN congratulates Jason deVos, TSN broadcaster and former captain of Canada’s Men’s National Team, for his induction to Canada’s Soccer Hall of Fame.

deVos will officially enter Canada’s Soccer Hall of Fame during the induction ceremonies held June 1-2 in Toronto. deVos and fellow 2013 inductees will also be given special recognition during Canada’s Women’s National Team’s match against the U.S.A. on Sunday, June 2 at BMO Field in Toronto.

“Jason came to TSN with a fierce passion for the game and an intimate knowledge of Canadian and international soccer. During his almost 30 years on and off the field, he has made invaluable contributions to the sport as a player and broadcaster,” said Stewart Johnston, President, TSN. “Jason is a true champion of Canadian soccer and could not be more deserving of this honour. On behalf of everyone at TSN, we congratulate Jason on being inducted to Canada’s Soccer Hall of Fame.”

About Jason deVos

As one of Canada’s most accomplished soccer players, deVos spent nearly 20 years on the pitch playing competitive soccer at the highest professional levels in Canada and Europe.  As a member of Canada’s national soccer team, deVos played a total of 49 times and scored four international goals over a seven-year period, during which he was also named team captain. deVos led Canada to its only international soccer championship, scoring the winning goal in the 2000 Gold Cup Final.  He was named to the Gold Cup All-Star team twice and also led Canada to the 2001 Confederations Cup in Japan.

deVos is colour analyst for TSN’s MLS broadcasts and joined host Luke Wileman in studio as an analyst during TSN’s exclusive coverage of UEFA EURO 2012. During the London 2012 Olympic Games, deVos provided colour commentary as 3.84 million Canadians watched the national women’s soccer team take on the United States in the dramatic semifinal game. He also provided colour during the thrilling bronze medal match between Team Canada and France.
