TSN Expands Exclusive World Juniors Coverage

Canada’s favourite holiday hockey tradition heats up this summer as TSN expands its exclusive live coverage of the World Juniors with a new summer preview, the first-ever SPORT CHEK WORLD JUNIOR SUMMER SHOWCASE. This new four-game exhibition series features Team Canada hosting two of their biggest hockey rivals on home ice from Aug. 3-6. Canadians can watch all four Team Canada games on TSN platforms, beginning with a rematch of the 2015 World Juniors gold medal game when Canada facesRussia on Monday, Aug. 3 at 10 p.m. ET on TSN (click here or see below for complete broadcast schedule).

Along with complete live coverage of all four Team Canada games, TSN delivers comprehensive news, highlights, and reaction from this summer series that puts the country’s top junior players in the national spotlight.

The list of players invited to Hockey Canada’s summer camp who will take part in the SPORT CHEK WORLD JUNIOR SUMMER SHOWCASE is highlighted by a number of recent Top 10 draft picks, including Arizona Coyotes centre Dylan Strome, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, New York Islanders winger Michael Dal Colle, and Vancouver Canucks winger Jake Virtanen.

Host Gord Miller and TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button follow Team Canada’s progress throughout the SPORT CHEK WORLD JUNIOR SUMMER SHOWCASE at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, calling all four Canada games and delivering news and analysis on the team.

SPORTSCENTRE delivers news, highlights, and daily updates and analysis from Miller and Button as well as reporters Mark Masters andBrent Wallace, who are on-site in Calgary from the start of camp on Saturday to follow the team and also contribute reports to TIM HORTONS THAT’S HOCKEY.

Delivering the call of all four Team Canada games on TSN Radio are play-by-play commentator Jon Abbott, the voice of the Vancouver Canucks on TSN Radio 1040 in Vancouver, alongside analyst and TSN 1040 midday host Blake Price.

25 Years of World Juniors on TSN

The 2015 edition of the World Juniors marked TSN’s 25th anniversary broadcasting Canada’s favourite holiday TV tradition. Since TSN began airing the tournament in 1990-91, it has repeatedly broken audience records, highlighted by the 2015 Gold Medal Game featuring Canada vs. Russia, which attracted an average audience of 7.1 million viewers to TSN and RDS, becoming the most-watched broadcast ever on specialty television in Canada. More than 19.4 million unique Canadian viewers watched some part of the 2015 World Juniors tournament on TSN and RDS.
