TSN’s Exclusive Live Coverage of the 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Begins Saturday, May 4

A roster of NHL stars – among them Steven Stamkos, Claude Giroux, Andrew Ladd, Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Jordan Staal, and captain Eric Staal – lace up for Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, live on TSN from May 4-19. TSN’s exclusive live coverage from Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland begins Saturday, May 4 at 5 a.m. ET with U.S.A. vs. Austria followed by Canada’s opening game against Denmark at 10 a.m. ET. Coverage includes all Team Canada and Team U.S.A. match-ups, plus the playoffs and Gold Medal Game (see complete broadcast schedule below).

All 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP games broadcast on TSN can be seen live on TSN Mobile TV. Live coverage is also available on TSN Radio 1050 in Toronto and worldwide on TSN1050.ca (visit TSN1050.ca for the most up-to-date broadcast schedule), while Team Canada games are available on-demand onTSN.ca. French-language coverage of the tournament is available on RDS.

Calling all games in Stockholm are play-by-play commentator Dave Randorf and analyst Marc Crawford, who coached Team Canada during the 2011 Spengler Cup and Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games. Play-by-play commentator Paul Romanuk and analyst Shane Hnidy are in the broadcast booth in Helsinki. Host Rod Black breaks down all the action in the TSN Studio alongside Dave Reid, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, and Bob Errey, a two-time Stanley Cup champion and World Champion.

SPORTSCENTRE features news and highlights from the 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP along with reports from Nabil Karim, who is on-site in Stockholm, Sweden to follow Team Canada throughout the tournament.

TSN Digital platforms – including TSN.ca and the TSN app for iPhone and iPad – will feature live scoring of every game from the 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, along with all the latest news and highlights.

The 2013 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP features the top men’s hockey teams from 16 countries with players not participating in the NHL Playoffs. Team Canada is led by Lindy Ruff, back behind the bench as head coach, alongside assistant coaches Dave Tippett, head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, Barry Trotz, head coach of the Nashville Predators, and Doug Shedden, head coach of Switzerland’s EV Zug. Ruff, Tippett, and Trotz were part of the coaching staff that led Team Canada to a second place finish at the 2009 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – Canada’s last medal performance at the tournament.
