Unscripted – Guests for the Week of April 19, 2010

Monday, April 19: James Reynolds
As police commissioner Abe Carver on the daytime drama Days of Our Lives, Emmy-nominated actor James Reynolds plays the longest running African American character in television history. A native Kansan, Reynolds served with the Marines in Vietnam and worked as a journalist before launching his acting career. He made his screen debut in the Charles Bronson thriller Mr. Majestyk, and went on to a number of film and TV roles (Diff’rent Strokes, Seinfeld) before joining Days of Our Lives in 1981. A three-time NAACP Image Award nominee, he has toured in his one-man stage show I, Too, Am America, a commentary on the African American experience.

Tuesday, April 20: Jessalyn Gilsig
Montreal native Jessalyn Gilsig shared a Screen Actors Guild Award earlier this year with her cast mates from the critically acclaimed ensemble series Glee. A McGill grad who received theatrical training at Harvard, she moved to New York and appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions before catching the eye of producer David E. Kelley, who cast her in his series Boston Public. Since then, she has been in constant demand, creating unforgettable characters on such hit shows as Prison Break, Nip/Tuck, Friday Night Lights and Heroes — and now bringing the crazy as Glee’s insufferable, pregnancy-faking Terri Schuester.

Wednesday, April 21: John Tesh
As a budding TV reporter in Nashville back in the 1970s, John Tesh dated fellow journalist Oprah Winfrey. In later years, the strapping Long Island native would become a household name as co-host of Entertainment Tonight. These days, he is best known as a Grammy-nominated musician who’s sold more than seven million New Age, jazz, pop and Contemporary Christian albums, and as the host of his own nationally syndicated soft rock radio show.

Friday, April 23: Kathy Najimy
One of Hollywood’s most admired comic actresses, Kathy Najimy made her big-screen breakthrough opposite Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 hit Sister Act. But she’s best known for voicing Peggy Hill on the long-running animated series King of the Hill. Her credits also include memorable roles on such hit shows as Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Veronica’s Closet and Numb3rs, as well as voiceover work on the acclaimed animated feature WALL-E. An outspoken feminist and gay rights activist, Najimy was named Ms. Magazine’s Woman of the Year in 2005.
