TV Gord’s What’s On for the week of April 19-25, 2015

It’s a quiet week when it comes to specials and new shows (which is typical in the days leading up to the start of the “May Sweeps” ratings period), but here are a few notable shows coming up this week.

Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are back as hosts of the CMAs, which celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Performers include Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Nick Jonas, Christina Aguilera, Dan and Shay, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, and new artist nominees Thomas Rhett, Cole Swindell and Sam Hunt.

The Second City Project – 8:30 on Global

Tuesday

There are two episodes this week: one tonight (preempting Person of Interest) and another in its regular time slot on Wednesday at 10pm.

Inside Amy Schumer – Tuesday at 10:30pm on Comedy

Fresh off her hosting of The MTV Movie Awards, Amy launches the third season of her edgy sketch/stand-up comedy series.

Friday

W1A – 9:30 to 11pm on BBC Canada

The BBC Two series, Twenty Twelve, was a mockumentary comedy series that followed the organization leading up to the 2012 London Olympics. This is a follow-up four part series (the first two episodes back-to-back tonight). Reprising their roles are Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jessica Hynes and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Broadchurch) as the narrator.
