TV Gord’s What’s On for the week of December 13-19, 2015

Disclaimers: All times eastern. CBS shows on Sundays may run over because of NFL Football. PBS times may vary by your local station’s whims.

By the way, check out our Channel Canada Fall Calendar, too!

Calendar

Sunday

A Jann Arden Christmas Special at The Social – 8pm on CTV

Singer Jann Arden is a recurring guest host on CTV’s daytime talk show, so it’s only natural that she would re-team with the co-hosts of that show to put on a Christmas special. (Incidentally, on a recent edition of The Social, Rod Stewart was charmed by Arden’s sense of humour and heartily promoted her new album, even though he had his own to push.)

Behind the Magic: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – 8 to 9pm on ABC

Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon A Time) hosts this look behind the scenes of the 1934 Disney classic.

Monday

Adele Live in New York City – 10pm on NBC

The Grammy Award winner performs at Radio City Music Hall.

Tuesday

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – 8 to 9pm on CBC – Classic Christmas Special

Wednesday

Frank Sinatra: Ol’ Blue Eyes Is Back – 8 to 9pm on TCM

A holdover from last week’s celebration of Frank Sinatra’s centennial, this is the 1973 that signaled his return from retirement (unretirement?) after a two-year break. Also features singer and dancer Gene Kelly.

Thursday

2015 Canada’s Walk of Fame – 8 to 10pm on Global

This year’s honourees are Michael Bublé, Don Cherry and Ron MacLean, actors Wendy Crewson and Lorne Greene, Author Lawrence Hill, and athlete Silken Laumann.
Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2015

This year’s fascinating people include Amy Schumer, Bradley Cooper, Tracy Morgan, Ronda Rousey, Bernie Saunders, Misty Copeland and Donna Karan. Given her friendship with Donald Trump, does anyone want to put money on her choice as the most fascinating person of all?

Friday

The Soup Finale – 10 to 11pm on E!

E’s snarky clip show comes to an end with a one-hour special. As host Joel McHale astutely pointed out a few weeks ago, “They (E!) gave us the night the Star Wars movie opens to say goodbye.”, which pretty much says it all!
